Welcome to the IHM Religious Education Web Page!

Here you will find information for families and teaching staff as well as general information about the program. We hope you find this information useful and informative.

As you can see from our Mission Statement, we are here to assist you in the faith formation of your child. As proclaimed during your child’s baptism, you are the first and best teachers of your child in the ways of the faith. For our support to be effective, we suggest that you reinforce the concepts presented in the classroom by:

  1. Talking to your child about each class. Most teachers send home informational letters on a regular basis (weekly or at the start of each unit) to provide a springboard for discussions.
  2. Helping with any homework that has been given. Depending on the class, this may entail written work that is handed in, reading in preparation for discussions, sharing thoughts about a topic, or other activities.
  3. Sitting in on a class to see first hand what is happening.
  4. Making class a priority by arriving on time and minimizing missed classes. When a class must be missed, talk with the teacher about what you can do to make up the missed work.
  5. Participating in the Mass with your child and letting them see you practicing what they are hearing preached.

Children are great imitators and they know what we value because they are constantly watching us. Your child’s teacher is with him/her only about 30 hours each year and will not have much of an effect on their spiritual development if the lessons are not reinforced by what they see practiced at home. You show us that you value your child’s religious education by sharing them with us. Show your child you value his/her religious education by sharing your faith with them!

Check here often for seasonal activities, articles, and notes!

New Act of Contrition:

Father Harlow would like all the students in the Religious Education Program to learn a new Act of Contrition. This will enable him to better help them during their celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Oh my God I am heartily sorry for having offended thee

And I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of heaven,

And the pains of Hell

Most of all for having offended thee my God

Who are all good and deserving of all my love.

I firmly resolve with the help of thy grace,

To confess my sins, to do penance,

And to amend my life.

Amen.
